Meet at Top Shop

Tuesday 07 October 2008 - 13:34:54
Meet at Topshop, Oxford Circus. All the young lovers meet there. Boys and girls and boys and boys and girls and girls in this mixed-up muddled-up shook-up world.

I meet Janet there and she is late as normal. And I’m as mad as normal and she flashes me that big beautiful smile. And she takes my arm and I forgive her. Cos I always forgive her and we walk through the backs to Efes for kebabs and steaks. And beautiful dips and pittas for a beautiful girl.

Mudhuts - Today Wigan, Tomorrow, the World

Thursday 25 September 2008 - 22:03:48
Y'know, it's amazing what you can find on the Internet these days. Most of it is, of course either wrong or a lie. but that doesn't stop us reading it, does it?

Here at Mudhuts, we like to keep abreast of global developments, and that means having a quick look at where our visitors come from. The results can be quite surprising and, in some cases, downright baffling.

As well as the high volume of .net, .co.uk and .com addresses we see every day, our 4th highest number of visitors actually come from Australia. Now, it could be the JoSko effect, but he left the club some time ago, and we still see lots of our Antipodean cousins dropping in. Mind you, maybe it's not too surprising when you consider that google.au is the world's 7th most popular method of searching for "wigan athletic"

Mudhuts FM Volume 5 - Hip Hop (Be Bop)

Monday 22 September 2008 - 19:59:32
Don’t stop. Great line from a great track ( & coincidentally the first 12” single I ever bought ) but that’s enough of all that nonsense.

What has hip hop got to do with Mudhuts FM Vol 5 I hear you ask?

Well, quite a bit as it happens. There’s a fair old smattering across the first part of the mix as we take in the likes of Stetasonic, J Live, Nightmares on Wax & the awesome Massive Attack. We slow things down a bit slightly with a hint of reggae ( including a very good reworking, in French, of the Dawn Penn track ) then go into a bit of disco, both recent & classic with tracks from Joey Negro, Jackie Moore & a great track from Beyonce’s little sister Solange. By the way, if you’ve not heard the new Solange album, check it out. Imagine Beyonce being produced by a particularly stoned Funkadelic then being filtered through Phil Spector’s Wall of Sound. It’s that good. After all that, we finish off with a lesser played Northern stomper & a bit of Style Council.

If you liked the last one, you’ll love this.

Get it here, and see the full news item for the track listing.

Finton – Spinning the platters that matter on the wheels of steel.

Going Down? (South, That Is) - The Tottenham Preview

Friday 19 September 2008 - 13:18:48
Okay, so we've never beaten Spurs. We've got a couple of draws but in reality, bar a couple of impressive moments, we've never really looked like winning one.

That may be about to change.

The less successful Premier League team from North London are having a torrid time of it. They started last season badly, sacked Martin Jol, and appointed Juande Ramos. For half a season, it looked like they may be on the way back up, instead of just being a self-proclaimed big club for the rest of us to laugh at. The trouble is, when you sell all your best forwards, it's difficult to win any games. The club, in mitigation, have made plenty of wailing noises about being robbed, Dick Turpin-like, by Man. Utd. during the last hours of the transfer window.

It's a curious defence, when the rest of the footballing world saw Berbatrov's move north coming form miles away. Once Berbs, as I'm sure the Soccer AM crowd know him, decided he want to play in Manchester, Spurs had no hope of keeping him. At least in any capacity where they could play him in the first team.

So, finally, a win for Latics?
